Weekend Fun!

Weekend Fun

Sightseeing need not only be for tourists. Singapore is a small island but there are plenty of things to do and see.

Chances are you will have family and friends from abroad come and visit you. By exploring the sights yourself you will be ahead of the game when they inevitably ask you what they should do and see while in Singapore.

A great way to get an overview of the sights is to take a hop of hop off bus tour. There are multiple companies that offer these tours. The tours cover all the highlights on the island in open top double-decker buses. The tours provide maps and earphones and are narrated in multiple languages.

City Sightseeing Hop-on-hop-off operates daily. The two routes (City Route and Heritage Route) cover more than 37 stops. Tickets are valid for 24 or 48 hours.

The meeting point is at Suntec City. In addition to the hop-on-hop-off bus ticket they offer the additional benefit of two walking tours: Chinatown and Little India.

FunVee City Hopper operates daily. Multiple routes and 40 stops cover 30 major attractions. They offer 20% discount on attraction tickets on board the FunVee City Hopper.

The FunVee City Pass is valid for one day. The meeting point is Marina Square Shopping Mall.

Duck &Hippo Tours use amphibious vehicles to tour both land and water sights. The kids are guaranteed to have lots of fun!

Duck Tours offer many different packages. To name a few, the Sentosa Package, the Gardens Package, the Night Tour Package and the Gourmet Bus Package
(enjoy a meal while you tour).

All of which are great fun!

Singapore Night Safari

The Night Safari is a nocturnal wildlife open air zoo. This offers a unique view of the nocturnal animals' night time habits when they are most active.

Visitors can explore the 6 geographical zones and learn the animals habits by tram or on foot via four designated walking trails.

Although this is a night time safari the animals are made visible by lighting that resembles moonlight. The lighting is bright enough for humans to see the animals but still dim enough so as to not disturb the nocturnal animals.

There are 59 major exhibits. The enclosures mimic the animals' native habitat. Barriers such as cattle grids, moats and hot wires ensure the safety of the visitors while also ensuring that the animals stay in their own habitat.

These barriers are designed to blend into the surroundings which enhances the perception of a natural habitat rather than keeping the animals caged.
This night safari is a wonderful way to learn about nature and the animals with which we share our world.

Night Safari is open every day of the year. Opening time is at 7.15 pm. Closing time is at 12.00 midnight.

African Waterfall Aviary is the second largest walk-in aviary in the world which houses 600 free flying birds. The waterfall aviary has one of the largest man-made waterfalls in the world, 30 meters high!
